The School of Economics and Business at the University of Ljubljana is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026. Since its founding in 1946, the faculty has consistently developed economic and business knowledge and has contributed meaningfully to Slovenia’s economic development, public policy, and society.

For the LJUBLJANA MBA community, this milestone is especially meaningful. As a program built within UL SEB’s tradition of excellence, we are proud to be part of a jubilee year that honours the past while creating momentum for the future. We were also delighted to celebrate alongside LJUBLJANA MBA alumni who joined the central anniversary ceremony.
A jubilee year that started in November 2025
The 80th anniversary celebrations began in November 2025 with the visit of world-renowned professor and organisational psychologist Adam Grant. During his time at UL SEB, he delivered a series of lectures and became a visiting professor, setting a strong international and intellectual tone for the jubilee year.
For the LJUBLJANA MBA community, his visit also had a special highlight: LJUBLJANA MBA alumni joined an exclusive masterclass with Adam Grant, organised as part of our alumni conference.
The central ceremony at Cankarjev dom
The key event of the jubilee year was the formal anniversary ceremony held on 8 March 2026 in Linhart Hall at Cankarjev dom. Through a documentary film and artistic dialogues, the program presented four twenty-year periods of the faculty’s development and highlighted its role in both the Slovenian and international environment. The keynote speaker of the evening was the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Nataša Pirc Musar.
For LJUBLJANA MBA, the evening carried an additional significance: our alumni were part of the celebration. Their presence was a powerful reminder that our school does not only build knowledge, it builds communities and relationships that continue long after graduation.
In the coming months, the jubilee program will continue with a series of events for students, staff, alumni, and the wider public. The year will spotlight UL SEB’s achievements in research, education, and collaboration with business, while bringing together generations of students, alumni, and partners.
